"I hope you're having a fun because we're REALLY having a fun!"
On August 14th, 2015, an historic event took place in Elk Grove, CA.
On Air, Sacramento's Premier Classic Rock with Power Horns band celebrated their 30th year together by bringing many former members back to join the current band for an all out BLAST!!
The band spent a few hours going over arrangements and plans for the evening, then broke for a chance to have dinner together before the show.
The concert was part of the Cosumnes Community Service District's Hot Summer Nights Concert Series. And was also recorded by Access Sacramento for their "Hometown TV" series. The following videos are courtesy of them.
As the show began, the current members of the band did several songs and little by little they added guests and featured former members of the band in various ways. Some were horn players, some played guitars, some sang and played.
Early on, Bob Lang and Tony Oddo did a medley of Doobies classics.
Suzanne Weissenberg was featured on what turned out to be one of a few "angry girl" songs.
The band planned and discussed the reunion concert for more than a year before it actually took place. And during that time, one theme kept coming up. "Just think how (insert song name) will sound when we have an augmented horn section!!"
Band leader and original member Bob Lang particularly looked forward to this one...
The night featured great playing by all involved. Many ripping solos, energizing horn parts, fabulous vocals and wicked beats with two drummers, percussionist and many accessory instruments. So everyone was pitching in. The audience even sang along on many songs, since the band features so many well known and loved songs.
And in the end, the love you take...wait. In the end, everyone involved had a great time.
The band was thrilled to host the reunion get-together so publicly. The audience was dancing and singin along right from the first song. The camera crew and event staff were having fun. Kids were dancing, teenagers were dancing, all ages of adults got their groove on.
